Reviewer Guideline

SUSTAINABLE AQUATIC RESEARCH (SAquaRes), publishes original research articles, short communications, technical notes, letters to the Editor, and reviews on aquatic sciences that are disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. The average reviewing period is approximately 60 working days from the submission of papers to the first decision for articles submitted to this journal. SAquaRes is an anonymous peer-reviewed open-access journal that publishes articles in the English language with three volumes a year (April, August, and December).

SAquaRes applies a rigorous and transparent editorial evaluation process to all submitted manuscripts. Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial assessment by the Editors-in-Chief or an Associate Editor to evaluate its suitability for the journal’s scope, compliance with the author guidelines, scientific quality, and originality, including plagiarism screening.

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned by the Editors-in-Chief to an appropriate Section Editor according to the manuscript's subject area and the editor's expertise. In cases of high submission volume, special issues, or when additional subject-specific expertise is required, the Editors-in-Chief may assign the manuscript to a Guest Editor to oversee the peer-review process.

The assigned editor manages the double-blind peer-review process by inviting at least two independent expert reviewers and evaluating the review reports. Throughout the editorial process, the Editors-in-Chief and, where appropriate, Associate Editors may provide editorial oversight and support.

Based on the reviewers’ reports and the recommendation of the handling editor, the Editors-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript.

Accepted manuscripts proceed to language editing (when required), copyediting, layout preparation, final proofreading, and online publication.

SAquares relies on the expertise and reports of its referees to ensure publication quality and reliability. Reviewers make an article evaluation by using the form “Review Form”. Articles submitted for publication are evaluated by national and/or international reviewers, and accept-decline decision is taken by the editorial board.

Names of reviewers evaluating the articles aren’t divulged to the authors (anonymous peer review).
